As I reflect

on the celebration that's about to occur this holiday season with my family, I can't help but think about those in the tax freedom and constitutional restoration movements who are being detained illegally and whose detention poses serious questions because of the lack of due process. They may not see family at all this week. They won't be home with their families this Christmas.

These men and women are truly my heroes. They have not knuckled under to the threats and tyranny of various governmental bodies that bully them and hold them hostage. They have stayed the course. They continue in a fight for freedom that most of us would not subject ourselves to. Untold hours alone in the sullen darkness of a 6X10 cell. Alone with only their thoughts.

A couple of examples: Dick Simkanin - who has only followed the internal revenue laws as he understood them and who has spent 6 months in prison with NO explanation of the law(s) he has supposedly broken. If he followed the tyrants' arguments then he surely would have to go against what the statutes actually say all the while his captors will not tell him specifically how he should follow which statutes and specifically then which ones he has broken.

Rick Stanley - who is being held because the mile high city of Denver is a "home rule" city and therefore those folks believe they can supersede the constitutions of Colorado and the United States! Wow, look what happens when the servants get a big head and say "To hell with those old documents! We know what is best for you! Don't argue with us, don't bring those stupid documents up in our courtroom or we will jail you!" This all stems from the audacious Mr. Stanley believing in his unalienable right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Colorado and U.S. constitutions. How dare he?! OK let's all kneel and sing praise and worship to the City of Denver and other obnoxious cities and townships while we forget about those stupid old documents.

Joe Banister - who gave up a promising career with the IRS when he found he couldn't live with the lie. And for standing up to the persecution of his former employer and speaking his mind and the truth to anyone who would listen.

There are many others like Schiff, Rose, Lear and many others who have paid a hefty price and continue to fight the fight regardless of the consequences they face. They will NOT be beaten. And there are thousands of us who in one way or another have our own stories to tell about our run-ins with tyrant government bodies. As long as WE stay the course, support the movement, support the leaders and heroes, support each other and never shut up, never give up - WE WILL WIN THIS WAR ONE BATTLE AT A TIME.

Please take a moment this holiday season and pray for those of us who are political prisoners. Those who are stolen away to become mere "examples" and who will not be allowed to be with their families. Pray for the fall of all tyrant(s) who would choose to try to oppress us - now and forever!
