Accelerated Move Against Property Rights Since Kelo Decision
It is really starting to heat up and get ridiculous now since the U.S. supreme Court issued their treasonous decision against individual property rights in Kelo et al. v. City of New London et al.
Yesterday, the city council of the City of St. Paul, Minnesota was trying to decide what to do with an activist group's proposal to only allow lighting on businesses, signs, etc. in the downwtown area during business hours!
Can you believe that this is even being discussed in earnest with the zoning department and others? Evidently, socialist/communist groups among us will do anything to try to control you or otherwise interfere with your constitutional right to own property and to be left the hell alone - whether in the business venue or the individual's life.
Earlier this year Hennepin and Ramsey counties of Minnesota (covering the cities of Minneapolis and St Paul) passed a smoking ban in restaurants and bars. Not enough county officials would accept the fact that this was a property rights issue and not a health issue because no one is forced to be a patron of or work for establishments that allow smoking. Not enough county officials thought that this would significantly affect the revenues of these small businesses and took a wait-and-see attitude about the possibility that bars and restaurants would dry up.
Well, the statistics are rolling in now and they are not pretty for the bar and restaurant industry in the Twin Cities. More than three dozen establishments (some in business for years) have closed the doors for good and more than 2,500 jobs have been lost because of this smoking ban. Revenues are 50%-60% of what they were pre-ban. And there are a few dozen more that are hanging by a thread and will likely go under this winter. Business hasn't been as bad as it is going to get when winter hits. Here in Minnsota in the winter we won't be using outside patios or sidewalk seating (where smoking is allowed) as was seen this summer in an attempt to maintain revenues.
I personally don't smoke anymore so I don't mind the cleaner air within the bars and restaurants. But even if a restaurant or bar did allow smoking - if I didn't like it I would leave - pure and simple. No one is forcing me to patronize them and no one is forcing you to patronize them either.
In my opinion, people and groups have NO business telling a bar, restaurant or any other private enterprise how to run theirs! I do guarantee this though: Unless We The People get off our "butts" and act, we will soon by allowed to do nary a thing because it will piss off some more-righteous-than-you group somewhere, somehow and as such will be illegal next month. Bank on it.
This current wave of offending free property ownership, usurping power against constitutional restraint, wide spread judicial corruption, overtaxing the masses and funneling the monies into international "funds" (IMF et al.), "fixing" the rates on fiat, unconstitutional currency, feeding into international cabals (UN)and government sponsored terrorism is just getting going. But left unchecked, Amerika will become the USSR of the West one day.
Come on people, get up, scream, yell, protest and be counted! Tell these damn interfering fools and government "officials" to leave you to your constitutional rights as you will do for theirs while you still have the wherewithal (freedom) and the Constitution to work with.
